Airway Dentistry: Better Breathing, Better Smiles

What Airway Dentistry Really Does

Airway dentistry focuses on how the structure of your teeth, jaws, and facial muscles affects breathing and sleep. It’s a science-driven, whole-body approach to oral health. Restricted airways can cause snoring, mouth breathing, fatigue, or even developmental concerns in children.

We use advanced assessments and gentle technology to uncover these problems early. Our team looks at the alignment of your bite, the width of your jaw, and even tongue posture—all of which can affect airflow and comfort. Treating these root causes, we help patients sleep better, breathe easier, and live with more energy.

Invisalign and Airway Dentistry: A Natural Fit

For many patients, especially kids and teens, orthodontic treatment supports airway development by guiding jaw growth and preventing narrowing that can lead to breathing challenges later.

We provide Invisalign for both adults and children, using clear aligners that are comfortable, discreet, and effective. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign allows for easy brushing, no food restrictions, and a treatment plan designed around your lifestyle.

Straightening teeth can do more than transform your smile—it can improve the way your jaw and airway function together. Our airway dentistry page explains how these treatments might work hand in hand to support total wellness.

Airway Dentistry for Kids: Growing Healthy Habits Early

Children’s airways are still developing, which makes early intervention essential. Airway-focused care can make a life-changing difference when we notice signs like mouth breathing, snoring, or poor sleep.

Through gentle growth guidance and orthodontic planning, we help ensure that your child’s jaws and teeth develop in a way that supports healthy breathing and proper alignment. This proactive care can prevent more serious concerns later—like sleep apnea or chronic fatigue.

Parents from Kerrville and surrounding communities trust our team for personalized, friendly care that feels supportive rather than rushed.

Airway Dentistry for Adults: Reclaiming Restful Sleep

Adults often come to us after years of unexplained fatigue, headaches, or restless nights. Airway dentistry offers answers that standard dental checkups might miss. By evaluating airway structure and jaw alignment, we uncover the hidden reasons behind chronic discomfort.

Treatments can range from Invisalign aligners to customized oral appliances that encourage natural breathing during sleep.

West Kerr Dental and Dr. Mitchell are hands down the best. The quality of my dental procedure was top notch, the staff are exceptional, and the environment is very clean and welcoming. What really stands out about this practice is the financial transparency and billing. I overheard the dental team working diligently to make sure everything was covered for their patients. They do their best to ensure equitable and affordable access and that’s a rare gem in today’s day and age. Highly recommend!

Exceptional care and attention to detail. While this is only the temporary crown I am very pleased with how the procedure went. Barely 24 hours later and it feels as if it is one of my own teeth. There was zero pain during the procedure as well as now which is barely 24 hours later with no need to even consider taking any form of pain relief. So impressed with Dr. Mitchell and her staff!
